Just returned from another good DAFA AA meeting of the Dickson AA group. I was really glad housemate Travis had already planned to go, for I had a relatively lazy afternoon and could have kept that sloth going into the night. After playing Candy Crush Soda for a couple hours, I needed a meeting.
The main topics tonight from my perspective were:
- What to do when feeling more disconnected than usual
- Higher power
Sponsor Joe and I were talking about this very thing a couple of days after Christmas: Feeling a little disconnected. Getting out of my usual spiritual/recovery routine was part of it, so getting back into the groove of my usual recovery program was part of getting connected again.
Gratitude always ends up being a good topic. Gratitude prevents relapse.
A few passages about the Higher power, God, or whatchamacallit
The distinguished American psychologist, William James, in his book Varieties of Religious Experience, indicates a multitude of ways in which men have discovered God. We have no desire to convince anyone that there is only one way by which faith can be acquired. If what we have learned and felt and seen means anything at all, it means that all of us, whatever our race, creed(1), or color are the children of a living Creator with whom we may form a relationship upon simple and understandable terms as soon as we are willing and honest enough to try. Those having religious affiliations will find here nothing disturbing to their beliefs or ceremonies. There is no friction among us over such matters. (There is a Solution, AA Big Book)
More to come later, going to bed…
